Applications for 360º VR are emerging for a variety of industries.

360º VR virtual reality (VR) can be useful in industries ranging from manufacturing and real estate to tourism and warehousing. Aerial Applications has found the tool is also highly effective in disaster situations.

We teamed up with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to create a customized drone capable of capturing 360° VR footage of two natural disaster sites — wildfire burns in Southern California and flood damage in Baton Rouge, LA, — to demonstrate the power of drone mapping software and drone data analytics.

In this case study, we cover how drone mapping software and 360º VR can be used to:

  • Provide first responders with a high-quality representation of what’s happening on the ground following a natural disaster
  • Help first responders carefully plan missions based on real-world data, better minimize danger, and maximize efficiency
  • Create simulations that enhance training experiences for first responders
